CPKC Road Foreman Toolbox
During my first derailment investigation as Road Foreman of Engines—an incident involving 11 derailed cars in Houston—I was tasked by the Vice President to review the engineer’s prior trips. To streamline the analysis, I built an internal tool called Train Check, which automatically processed locomotive downloads and highlighted rule violations and performance issues. After multiple iterations and enhancements, the system evolved into the CPKC Road Foreman Toolbox, a comprehensive platform that standardized trip reviews and improved investigative efficiency.
